Mission statement

As a postpartum professional, I seek to empower parents while they are integrating the new baby(ies) into the life of their family. To this end, I provide non-medical physical and emotional support to families with newborns with an attitude of love, respect, and good humor.

About me

I have been a self-employed postpartum doula since 1998. In that time, I have been fortunate to work in a wide variety of situations for over 400 families. This includes more than 150 families with twins and triplets, families with older siblings and have had the honor to return to past clients when their second child is born. My years of supporting families have included families with special needs such as postpartum mood disorders, premature infants with special concerns, and families grieving loss.

I enjoy caring for new parents as they learn to care for their child(ren). It is exciting to witness parents as they gain confidence in the most important job they will ever have. While I have more than a decade of experience and bring many resources to the job, I find it very satisfying to be able to relieve some of the pressures and anxieties that accompany the transition to parenthood.

I am passionate about being a postpartum doula and believe the most important part of my job is to provide a safe and supportive environment to new parents as they find their way with each other as well as bonding with their baby. I am there to help them trust their instincts and believe in their ability to provide the best care for their child.

I have lived in the Puget Sound region (mostly Seattle) since 1985. Originally from Chicago, my prior professional experience was as a non-denomination minister supporting families with terminally ill and chronically ill family members, human resource management, and professional theatre.

As a certified NAPS doula, I carry my own professional liability insurance and have met the necessary doula training requirements, maintain Infant/child CPR certification and submit a Washington State Police background check every three years. In addition, I am a lactation educator with extra specialized training in breast feeding.
